NEEDLE FELTING ANIMAL PORTRAITS
Needle felting is a dry felting process. It uses a barbed needle poked in and out of fiber [like alpaca]
hundreds of times until the fiber felts. Using this process i mold the fiber into shapes, and using my
different alpaca colors I create my animal portraits.The only time i use dyed wool batting is when I need
a color like blue, pink, green, yellow ect. Which my alpacas aren't, because I will not dye their beautiful
natural colors. I have eight darling alpacas. samson medium brown, aphrodite-white, athena-fawn,
belilah-rose gray, princess-dk brown, jezabelle-darker fawn, beabea-black, and journey-dk rose gray.

I was born in new jersey and raised on long island [new york}, I always longed for the west.
After marriage, and adopting my daughter, I finaly came west to colorado.
The two passions in my life have always been animals and art. When I retired from the
phone company[qwest], I wanted to work at a veterinary clinic. how fortunate I was
to get hired right away at kenline veterinary clinic. Dr, Denise White treats all animals,
large and small, avian, reptile and all the small creatures like rats and guinea pigs. I
wanted to learn and this was the place to do it. Imagine my delight when I met my first
alpaca. "samson" was scheduled for a health certificate, and the doctor brought him
into the clinic for a weight. I was drawn to this beautiful animal, I went around the desk,
and knelt down. He walked right up to me, and kissed me. This was the begining of
my dreams coming true. I own 'samson', and seven beautiful females-all different
colors. Using their fiber my dream of being an artist became reality. I found my medium
which is needle felting my alpaca fiber into 3-d animal portraits. My two passions joined
in a dream come true.
I happily take custom orders for all pets. I do require a hard copy photo to work from.
Prices range from $95 -$295 depending on size, and number of pets in portrait.
