Ed Penner was born in Western Oklahoma where in his youth he would frequently sketch things pertaining to rural living.
Old farm equipment, barns, etc. were the subjects of his beginning work. Following a career in the medical profession,
Ed now lives in Canon City where he began painting several years ago. He paints almost daily and loves going out on location.
ARTIST STATEMENT
When creating a painting, he emphasizes the use of contrasting values and vivid color intensity. Ed’s unconventional way of
arranging shapes and creating unusual texture is what makes his watercolor paintings Interesting. In his brief career as an artist he
has won awards in the surrounding area and Pueblo. Ed paints in a variety of styles and incorporates unusual subjects in his art. He
enjoys working with street scenes and has done numerous commission paintings of store fronts in the local area.
