About The Artist Coleen was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado
Endowed with a creative gift, she began
drawing and painting soon after beginning to walk. In 1967, she enrolled at the University of Rome to
study the masters.
Coleen returned to the U.S. and earned a bachelor of arts degree, graduating Cum Laude,
from California State University at Long Beach. In 1971, Coleen was employed as an art teacher in the
Widefield School District of Southern Colorado Springs.
After teaching art for thirteen years, Coleen renewed her commitment to her studio art.
In 2003 coleen established and ran the Bobinac Studio and Gallery for six years in the charming historic distric of
Florence, Colorado. She returned to painting full time at her ranch studio at the beginning of 2009. Working full time
in her studio, Coleen uses the various mediums of watercolors, oils, and hand-executed printmaking. Of the three, it is
through watercolors that Coleen has found she can best capture the radiant light and shadow of her favorite subject matter:
the adobe dwellings and ancient ruins of the Southwest. Her work brings back to life those lost cultures and allows
us to see and feel their worlds. Using strong asymmetrical compostions, and an array of unusual format sizes,
she brings us the enchantment of special places.
In 2009, Coleen renewed her commitment to her painting full time. She is now
working to create a new body of work and expand her horizons. Her studio is located
10 miles north of Canon City, Colorado, on her ranch in Tecolote Canyon.
Coleens studio is open by appointment only.
You may schedule an appointment by calling 719-429-3652.
